Delhi. (Wed.) Meet your traveling companions and Tour Director before an afternoon sightseeing tour. Your Local Guide will show you the sights of “New” Delhi. Visit HUMAYUN’S TOMB and Qutab Minar. Then, see the grand government buildings, the President’s House, and Parliament House. Tonight your Tour Director hosts a lavish WELCOME DINNER. (B,D)

Day 4:
Delhi. (Thu.) This morning’s sightseeing tour focuses on “Old Delhi.” Start with a visit to the JAMA MOSQUE followed by a RICKSHAW RIDE through Chandni Chowk, a colorful local bazaar. Next, explore the magnificent RED FORT with its red sandstone walls bedecked in marble, jewels, gilt, and inlay. You’ll also visit the GANDHI MEMORIAL MUSEUM and Raj Ghat, where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated in 1948. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. (B)

Day 5:
Delhi–Varanasi. (Fri.) Fly to Varanasi, the holiest of Hindu pilgrim cities, on the banks of the sacred Ganges River. Sightseeing today visits SARNATH, the cradle of Buddhism, where Buddha first spoke of his philosophy. (B)

Day 6:
Varanasi–Khajuraho. Around dawn, board a BOAT to watch a striking religious ritual—the Hindu’s devotional bathing in the Ganges. You’ll observe hundreds of pilgrims gathered at the river’s edge, some practicing yoga, others meditating, still others bathing fully clothed. You’ll visit the BHARAT TEMPLE, housing a relief map of India carved out of marble, and time permitting, drive by the Durga Temple, popularly known as the Monkey Temple. A late morning flight takes you to Khajuraho, where sightseeing focuses on the mysterious TEMPLES OF LOVE that have been isolated for centuries. Art historians have long puzzled over myths and legends in an attempt to understand the bizarre combination of prolific religious and erotic temples. (B,D)

Day 7:
Khajuraho–Jhansi–Agra. (Sun.) Enjoy a rare visit this morning to the impressive MEDIEVAL PALACE COMPLEX, once the capital of a locally powerful Rajput kingdom. Later, board a train to Agra, where much of the city’s impressive past is still evident today in the majesty of her buildings. (B)

Day 8:
Agra. (Mon.) Today’s sightseeing includes the incomparable TAJ MAHAL, an extravagant marble monument to love. The Moghul Emperor Shah Jehan built it as a memorial to his beloved wife, who died during childbirth. To add to this memorable experience, you’ll also travel by tongas, or horse carriages, during your visit. Later, see AGRA FORT, built in sandstone by the Moghul Emperor Akbar, as well as the beautiful pearl mosque, MOTI MASJID. (B,D)

Day 9:
Agra–Jaipur. (Tue.) Today, visit FATEHPUR SIKRI (the City of Victory) en route to Jaipur. The evening is free to enjoy the “Pink City,” known for its arts and crafts including jewelry, enamel work, hand-painted fabrics, and stone sculptures. (B)

Day 10:
Jaipur. (Wed.) The highlight of today’s sights includes the amazing AMBER FORT. Later on, enjoy an in-depth walking tour of the fascinating “Pink City,” including the CITY PALACE; the adjoining MUSEUM, which houses a collection of rare manuscripts; and the HAWA MAHAL (Palace of the Winds). You’ll also see the 17th-century observatory with its 90-foot sundial. (B,D)

See an exquisite collection of crystal objects d’art, dinner sets, perfume bottles, and the only crystal bed in the world. Standard Offers and Specials provided by Globus

Discount for young travelers

Share the pleasure of a Globus vacation with your children and grandchildren and take advantage of a 10-percent discount on the land-only price. For eligibility, children must be under 18 years of age on the departure date and must be accompanied by an adult. On escorted vacations we don’t accept children under eight years old because we have found that they are too young to enjoy these vacations.

Pay less for your second vacation

We charge you vacation price for your first vacation in 2008, but for every additional Globus vacation you take in the same year, you pay US$35 under list. Our vacations are designed and scheduled so you can combine them almost any way you want. It’s fun to play the add-a-vacation game yourself or talk to your travel agent.

Triple room reduction

On most Globus vacations you receive a reduction when three people travel together and share the same accommodations. Triple room reductions, when available, are listed on the itinerary pages. A word of caution: Triple rooms usually are no larger than twin rooms and the third bed, if there is one, is often a rollaway put in a twin-bedded room.

Avoid the single room supplement

We do not take reservations on a “share” basis because we have found that strangers rarely enjoy sharing a room for the duration of their vacation. Avoid the single room supplement by traveling with a friend. It’s less expensive and much more fun!
